Lee Correctional Release Paths

Lee Correctional Institution is an SCDC level-three prison. It is not the Sumter jail, even though it is close enough to be relevant to Sumter families and cases. A person committed from Sumter can be assigned there or to another state prison. Classification and state placement, not committing county, control the physical institution.

A discharge, parole release, community supervision event, or supervised reentry event may end prison confinement. A move from Lee Correctional to another SCDC institution does not. The current search will show the new prison after the state updates its prior-midnight snapshot. A completed SCDC exit belongs in the separate released database, with DPPPS used for any ensuing supervision.

Confirm Lee Correctional Releases

Use the SCDC number or SID whenever possible. Those identifiers connect the current record, released row, sentence material, and supervision search more safely than a name alone.

1. Search the SCDC current incarcerated population and match identity, photograph, sentence details, and institution.
2. If Lee Correctional is shown, note that the data reflects the prior-midnight snapshot.
3. For a believed exit, search the SCDC released application with a reasonable date range and the true committing county.
4. Match the SCDC ID and identity fields, then preserve the exact release date and type.
5. Check DPPPS when the release type or sentence points to parole, probation, community supervision, or supervised reentry.

Choose SUMTER in the released form only when Sumter was the committing county. Lee Correctional's address in Lee County does not set that field. If the committing county is unclear, use all locations and match the SCDC ID.

The SCDC institutions directory is the official route for current institution details. Research confirms Lee Correctional's location but does not provide a verified direct public phone or published public hours. Use the directory for the current facility contact and central SCDC for records.

A request should name the person, SCDC ID or SID, approximate movement or release date, and the exact item sought. Ask for the institution movement history when the issue is whether Lee Correctional transferred the person. Ask for the discharge record and release type when the issue is whether state confinement ended.

Lee Correctional Prison Profile

The research identifies Lee Correctional as a level-three SCDC prison. That description distinguishes it from minimum-security Wateree River and from the county detention center's mixed pretrial and sentenced population. It also means state sentence and institution records control the lookup.

Lee Correctional can hold prisoners from any committing county. Its Bishopville location does not make every record a Lee County release, and proximity does not make it part of the Sumter Sheriff's system. A Sumter commitment may appear there because SCDC assigns the placement. Conversely, a person held there may have no Sumter connection.

Lee Correctional Search Differences

The current SCDC application covers people sentenced to and incarcerated in the state system. It may display the photograph, prison, sentence and offense data, and projected release information. SCDC states that the snapshot is current as of midnight the prior day. Recent intake or transfer can therefore take time to appear.

The released application serves a different purpose. It requires beginning and ending dates plus a committing county or all locations. Results display SCDC ID, name, sex, race, age, sex-offender indicator, release date, release type, and county. Export fields may add SID and labeled victim, detainer, and MSO columns.

The Sumter County release lookup provides the Sheriff and court paths when the episode began as a local booking rather than an SCDC sentence.

Lee Correctional Release Dates

A projected state release date can change. Sentence start, jail credit, concurrent or consecutive terms, offense class, statutory minimums, good-conduct credit, earned work or education credit, disciplinary loss, court modification, and detainers all affect the calculation. The current search and automated inquiry line are the pre-release routes.

After discharge, use the actual date in the released application. Preserve the label. A RELEASED result does not itself prove that no other sovereign took custody, and a supervision label needs a DPPPS check. Lee and Sumter Record Boundaries

Three names can cause confusion: Lee Correctional Institution, Lee County, and the older Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center name. Lee Correctional is a state prison in Bishopville. The regional detention center name refers to the county facility operated by the Sumter Sheriff under an agreement involving Lee-designated prisoners. They are not the same institution.

Start with the controlling agency. SCDC owns the Lee Correctional custody record. The Sumter Sheriff owns a Sumter detention movement record. A Lee court or Sumter court owns its filed case documents. Keeping these custodians separate avoids treating a county transfer as a prison discharge or treating a state-prison move as community release.

Lee Correctional Release Proof

A matched SCDC released row is the strongest public proof that the state recorded the event shown. Pair it with the last current record if Lee Correctional must be established as the prior institution. Add DPPPS for current supervision and the committing court's sentence sheet for the legal framework.

The committing court can supply the sentence sheet and later filed orders, but those records do not replace the SCDC movement entry. In a Sumter case, use the Sumter Public Index and Clerk route. If the commitment came from another county, request the court material there. Keep the court order, SCDC prison history, released row, and DPPPS status as four separate points in the timeline.

Lee Correctional Status Conflicts

Compare the access date with the movement date because the current SCDC application is a prior-midnight snapshot. A same-day move from Lee Correctional may not yet appear. Call the public inmate line when the timing is recent, then obtain the written movement entry for a durable answer.

If another SCDC institution appears, treat the event as transfer. If the released ledger has the matching SCDC ID, preserve its release date and type. When DPPPS also has a match, that result describes the next supervision stage rather than the prison exit itself.
